Hi! My name is Andy Rodriguez; I was born in Aurora, IL but spent most of my life growing up in Oswego. After graduating from Oswego High School in 2006, I attended Waubonsee Community College where I got my associates degree and soon after transferred to Western Illinois Univeristy where I got my bachelors degree in sociology and law enforcement.

Although I never officially played sports in any capacity, fitness has always been an interest of mine. It was not until I was a student at Western Illinois University that my interest in fitness grew from just a hobby to a lifestyle.

There, I took full advantage of the free recreational facilities and was able to develop a routine that took me to a fitness level I had never reached before. I was hooked on fitness, and the joy it brought me every day I was in the gym.

Once I graduated from WIU, I moved back to Oswego and wasted no time finding a local gym to keep up with my newfound passion. I joined a local “globo-gym” and kept up with the same routine that worked for me in college. I was content, but only for so long. As the months passed I found myself less and less enthused for the routine that once me so much joy. Every day, like clockwork I performed the same mindless repetitions to exercises I repeatedly done the past two years. I had become a fitness drone and needed a change.I got into CrossFit on a whim in June of 2012. Although I did no know much about CrossFit at the time, I had a coworker who spoke highly about the “life changing” things that CrossFit had done for him. Curious and burnt out on my fitness routine, I decided to search the web to see if there were any CrossFit gyms in my area. As if by destiny, I found that a gym had just opened in Oswego. I contacted the owners and set up a trial day, going in I did not know what to expect but knew I was ready for a change. From day one I knew this was something for me. Every day presented a new challenge and I became hooked. As the weeks and months passed by I saw myself getting stronger, faster and happier than I had ever been prior. Not only did I find a fitness routine that worked for me, but also a community of people who supported me every step of the way.

As our community grew the need for extra help grew as well, I was offered a coaching opportunity and obtained my CrossFit Level 1 certification in March of 2013. I also obtained my CrossFit Endurance certification in May 2013, which focuses on the running and endurance aspect of CrossFIt.

The thing I love most about coaching is watching others succeeding and enjoying CrossFit as much as I do. Fitness is a gift that has brought be so much joy, and every day I come in with a smile knowing that I am able to share that gift. I look forward to meeting you and helping you obtain your fitness goals!
